eCommerce Business Models

Before we further discuss how drop shipping works, what I really intend to do is walk you through the different ways to make money online. By doing this, we can eventually get to how drop shipping is different and why I consider it as the most ideal way to make money over the internet.

As far as internet-based business models go, the most prominent are eBay, Amazon, and building your own eCommerce store.

When I first began with this business over, I think nearly 10 years ago now, I was using eBay and that got saturated very quickly and ended up being a pricing war. It just wasn’t worth it, so I stopped using it.

Dropshipping on Amazon is dangerous. The opportunity to market products could shrink rapidly, and you could most probably get eliminated by an over-saturation of competition.
If you’re unaware of this, you can visit Amazon’s website and list your own items for sale. You could set up what’s called an Amazon store.

Amazon is an excellent business model. I’m not planning to put it down at all, but I would rather have my own eCommerce stores.

When you’re selling using somebody else’s platform, regardless if that’s eBay or Amazon or any other platform, they regulate the whole transactions process, they own the buyer and their database. They could sell other items to them and get them into their own sales model.

Shopify makes it possible for you to develop your own independent store. Through this platform, you’ll have way more supervision and better advertising and marketing benefits.

Those are the three main eCommerce business models that I think most people know of and the way most people get started out. So out of all of these, which do I like the best? Which do I recommend most?

Hands down, Shopify. I like having my own eCommerce store and I primarily like how uncomplicated the platform is to work with.
